Test and Realign Garage Door Sensors Often

If your garage door isn’t working, it isn’t necessarily broken. The garage door’s sensors may just have gotten knocked out of alignment and need to be adjusted. You may need to remeasure the height that each of the sensors is currently at and move them accordingly.

Some people run a string between the two sensors and then use a level to mark when the sensors are even. If you adjust the sensors and they still aren’t working, try cleaning them with a cotton swab. Sometimes fingerprints or dirt can cause blockage and prevent them from picking up signals accurately.

Reset the Garage Door Opener

In the event that your garage door isn’t opening or closing properly, you may need to reset the opener. Sometimes you will also need to replace the batteries if the opener has been spotty or weakening.
